I-205 Path through Mayberry ParkThe original Interlachen loop is quite flat. If you’d like to add in a small climb, extending the ride by about 7 miles, try the Sandy River extension. From Troutdale, this route will take you briefly onto the Columbia River Hwy. Turn right on Stark St to head back or carry on as far as you like. If you have yet to venture east of Troutdale, this extension is a nice little taste test.

Visit the Interlachen ride description for more details on the rest of this ride.

This is a great ride. Not too many hills, but enough to get the heart beating. I enjoyed the stretch on the Historic Columbia River Hwy overlooking the Sandy River. If you go about a 1/4 mile past the Stark St. bridge, you can have a nice mid-ride rest on the banks of the Sandy at Dabney park. On the way back I took 223rd down to the Springwater trail and rode that all the way back into Portland rather than heading back up towards Blue Lake and Marine Dr. It was a nice change of scenery and an excellent way to end the ride. From SE Portland, total was about 45 miles. Cheers!
