Comments – Jacob Erker
This project was made possible thanks to the support of River City Bicycles owner, Dave Guettler. River City Bicycles has been a trendsetter in Portland, constantly advocating for bicycle rights as well as inspiring so many people to take up cycling for commuting, travel, health and sport. Dave Guettler inspired the original Rubber To The Road series and wanted to update the rides and bring them online. He also is a strong supporter of bicycle commuting and wanted to increase awareness of safe and quiet options for those who ride to work. Thank you Dave for supporting this latest edition.
The first volume of Rubber To The Road was compiled by Peter Marsh. It is with great appreciation of your efforts that I thank you for creating a means for cyclists in the area to discover the incredible riding available right out their own door.
Volume Two of Rubber To The Road was compiled by Otis Rubottom. I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to you Otis for this edition. Upon moving here in 2006, I didn’t have any real knowledge of where to ride in the area. In fact, I didn’t really have any idea at all as to how many options there were. I purchased your volume at River City Bicycles and quickly began checking off the routes one by one. This book became my training diary and I still have it, although it’s a little worse for wear, having spent many days tucked in my jersey.
